The Wiltshire Football League - Informational Website

The formation of the Wiltshire County Football League resulted from the amalgamation of the Wiltshire Combination and Wiltshire Leagues. The following Officers and Committee were elected at the inaugural meeting held in Devizes: J R Nunn (Chairman), W L Miles (Vice-Chairman), E S M Ashman (Secretary), F E Jones (Assistant Secretary), C G Scott (Treasurer), P J Ackrill (Registration Secretary), K J Mulraney (Referees' Appointments Secretary) and a Management Committee of C W Cousins, D B Cradock, T K Dowty, G A Highmore, D C Kilford and I K Strange.

There were fourteen Vice-Presidents: H Beattie, A E Beavis, W H Brown, M A Cutforth, T Gillingham, Mrs E T Mills, D S Mills, E G Newman, F J Oatridge, W A Shail, W W Sherwood, H J Stevens, P E Stone and H W Todd.

The first League Champions were Park YC, Division 2 winners were Warminster Town, Junior Division Section A winners were Walcot Boys Athletic and Section B winners were Devizes Town Res. Wroughton won the Subsidiary Cup.

1977 - 1978

This season saw some changes to the Management Committee. P M Cook took over as Assistant Secretary and G A Highmore became Treasurer in place of C G Scott. V R Blake, F E Jones and I R Titcombe were all elected to the Management Committee with T K Dowty and I K Strange retiring.
Park again won Division 1, Division 2 winners were Penhill, Division 3 winners were Shrewton and Division 4 winners were Melksham Town Res. Westbury Utd won the Subsidiary Cup.
